The EDI (Equal opportunities, diversity and integration) commission of the FBM has organized a leadership training course in collaboration with HFP consulting (specialists in leadership training for scientists) that will take place in September 2021.
Two courses will be offered in parallel: one tailored to junior group leaders (such as, Ambizione, Prima, Cloetta, Eccellenza, ERC starting grant, PAST, PASTT, MER junior) and the second to senior group leaders (MER senior, PAS, PO) of the fundamental sciences section of the FBM.
Objectives: Principle investigators are promoted to new positions which involve increasing responsibilities during their careers, but often without the tools to help them become responsible and successful team managers and institutional leaders. The EDI commission with support from the Equal opportunity office at UNIL aims to establish and nurture a strong culture among faculty members of team and faculty management which are both efficient and respectful of people and values. We propose a management training to implement this aim,and form a network of PIs who will serve as change leaders in our faculty and beyond.
Course dates: The workshops will take place online, in parallel and are divided into half days in the afternoons (13:30-17:00) of September 6th, 10th, 14th, 17th, 21st and 24th (detailed programmes see below).
In addition, there will be two sessions common to both junior and senior group leaders given on (1): September 6th from 11:30-12:30: In this kick-off session we have invited role models in the fundamental sciences Prof. Susan Gasser and Prof. Alfonso Valencia) to discuss their career paths and leadership tips. (2) September 23rd from 13:30-14:30: A presentation and discussion session with Carine Carvalho , Head of the Equal opportunity office at UNIL.
Certificates: A certificate of participation will be issued at the end of the course.
